KENDALL COUNTY - NewsWest 9 is continuing to follow a deadly helicopter crash in Central Texas that has ties to Midland and the Permian Basin.

Three people were killed when the helicopter went down on Thursday night.

The helicopter was headed for Seguin.

The helicopter did stop in Fredericksburg to gas up then took off again around 7:30 p.m. and the emergency beacon was activated about 30 minutes later.

The search began on Thursday night but was called off because of the weather.

Officials resumed the search on Friday morning and the wreckage was found just before 8 a.m. Friday morning in a heavily wooded area.

The helicopter was a four passenger, Robinson R-44 single engine chopper.

The investigation of the crash has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration.

It's not clear at this time why the passengers were in Midland but we are told it was for business.

We did learn that two of the people in the crash worked for Venture Energy Services and the helicopter was rented.

The pilot of the chopper also died.

Our friends over at the Seminole Sentinel say one of the victims has been identified as 29-year-old Kaci Fairchild,

Fairchild graduated from Seminole High School in 2001 and still has family in Seminole.
