PAINESVILLE -- Painesville Judge Michael Cicconetti's latest "creative justice" sentence has a man found guilty of driving while drunk viewing fatalities at either the county coroner's office or the emergency room of a hospital.
Cicconetti found Jonathan Tarase, 18, of Kirtland, guilty of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after a traffic stop by the Highway Patrol at 11:45 p.m. Oct. 15.
Tarase had pleaded not guilty Oct. 16 and was assigned a public defender. He had also been charged with running a stop sign but that charge was dismissed.
Cicconetti sentenced Tarase to 65 days in the Lake County Jail; parole for six months; $852 in fines and court costs; and suspended his driver's license for six months except for driving to work or to medical appointments.
He must report to jail at 7 p.m. April 19 to serve the five days.
Tarase also must be on call for two days -- in addition to his jail time -- to view a traffic fatality at either the Lake County Coroner's Office or a local hospital's emergency room. The arrangements will be made through the probation department for viewing.
