Three arrested in Onalaska drug bust - WXOW.com

ONALASKA, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Three people are arrested in connection with bringing a large amount of marijuana into Onalaska.

Police Chief Jeffrey Trotnic says on Sunday, October 7th, a Rapid City, South Dakota drug task force officer contacted Onalaska about a vehicle stop that turned up 37 pounds of marijuana bound for Onalaska.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of more than $100,000, were bought in California and in transit to Wisconsin.

Police and drug agents took the drugs to a home at 125 9th Avenue North where they were originally headed.  The home's owner, Ben Zimmer, had arranged to have the pot dropped in the garage since he wasn't home at the time.

As police watched the home, a vehicle came and went from the residence. A traffic stop led to the arrest of Brandon Eckert, who had nine pounds of marijuana in his vehicle. Chief Trotnic says Eckert was charged with possession with intent to deliver.

Ben Zimmer was later arrested in Onalaska during a traffic stop.  Police found marijuana and paraphernalia in his vehicle according to Chief Trotnic.

A search warrant of Zimmer's home uncovered drugs and cash related to drug profits.  Alyssa Zimmer, Ben Zimmer's wife, was taken into custody.

Ben Zimmer was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver and warehousing.  Alyssa Zimmer was charged as a party to both of those crimes says Chief Trotnic.
