Ragging goes obscene: Girl students force junior to perform vulgar acts in ... - Daily Bhaskar

Vadodara: There is no respite from ragging incidents in colleges and universities despite having strict anti-ragging laws. Now, a fresh incident of ragging has rocked the Maharaja Sayajirao University in Vadodara where a student of architecture has accused his seniors of harassing him in the name of ragging.


He even alleged that a female senior student of asked him to do obscene acts including forcing him to perform dance.


According to Harshvardhan Sutaria, "A group of 30-35 senior students, mostly girls, are in the regular habit of ragging new entrants in the university." He further alleged that a senior female student accompanied by another senior took him to a secluded place in the college and asked him to perform obscene acts.


Harshvardhan adds that these seniors are even supported by a professor in the department.


He has registered a complaint against Nisha, Kunal, Parth, Vivek, Nirmal and seven others.


However, the accused seniors have outrightly denied any role in the ragging incident.


According to Harshvardhan, No action has been taken against seniors even though he has submitted a complaint in writing to the vice chancellor of the university and police commissioner.


The victim is now planning to stage a dharna against the ragging atrocities on juniors by senior students of the university.
