Man arrested in traffic stop turned drug bust - KVUE

WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- Authorities arrested a man after discovering drugs worth $200,000 in the engine compartment of his vehicle during a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Amado F. Tijerina from Mission, Texas was arrested around 1:00 p.m. for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. 

Williamson County's Sheriff's Office arrested Tijerina at a traffic stop at IH-35 and mile marker 269, after a K-9 alerted authorities on two car batteries where six kilos of cocaine were found.

The 49-year-old was driving a Chevrolet pickup when he was stopped for driving in a passing lane impeding traffic to go around him.Tijerina told authorities that he was traveling to Dallas from Mission.

Upon interviewing Tijerina, a deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle. Tijerina gave consent for the vehicle to be searched.

Tijerina was turned over to the Austin Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and will be held in the custody of the US Marshals Office.
