Zambian woman arrested on Xmas in India for drugs - Zambian Watchdog

A Zambian woman was on Christmas day arrested in India for allegedly smuggling narcotics worth over Rs six crore at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.
Acting on intelligence inputs, 32-year-old Emily Chilonga Chibuye was intercepted near the check-in counter of the departure hall and was interrogated, which resulted in the recovery of Ephedrine Pseudoephedrine, a controlled substance under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The woman was intercepted at 12.40am at Terminal 3 by the intelligence wing of the CISF.
Chibuye Emily Chilonga, 32, from Zambia was detained and her travel documents revealed she was travelling to Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airlines flight.
"Her appearance appeared to be suspicious when she came to the airport and based on this profiling, she was selected for a thorough checking. On screening and physical checking her baggage, 35 kg of Methylenadroxhlyle, Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine drugs were recovered in powder form concealed in her clothes," a CISF officer said.
The woman was later handed over to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The woman was on a tourist visa to India.
According to officials, Emily had come from Adis Ababa on tourist visa. Emily, who claims to work as a beautician in that country, told the interrogators that she was to hand over the stock to her Indian associate here, officials said. Search is on to trace her accomplice, they added.
