Norfolk road crashes leave five dead in 48 hours - BBC News

A police community support officer is the fifth person to have died on Norfolk's road in three car accidents in less than 48 hours, said police.

Sandra Greenacre, 51, a married mother of four, died in a crash on the A149 at Sandringham about 06:40 GMT while on her way to work in Hunstanton.

On Sunday, a man and a woman died following a collision on the A140 at Hevingham about 20:25 GMT.

And on Saturday, two women were killed in a crash on the A47 at Hockering.

The mother and daughter, aged 48 and 19, were travelling in a Ford Ka which was in collision with a Mercedes.

'Devastating loss'

Mrs Greenacre, known as Sandi, worked in the Hunstanton, Burnham Market and The Woottons areas.

Chief Constable Phil Gormley said: "We were saddened and shocked to learn of the death of our colleague.

"A number of families, friends and colleagues are today dealing with the devastating loss of a loved one from a weekend which has seen a shocking level of tragedy on Norfolk's roads.

"We extend our sympathy to them all at this time."

Mrs Greenacre's Peugeot 107 was in collision with a Peugeot 206 travelling in the opposite direction.
