5 arrested in drug raid on 12th Avenue home in Decatur - al.com (blog)

DECATUR, Alabama - Five people were arrested in a drug raid Thursday at a home on 12th Avenue in Decatur, where authorities found cocaine, marijuana and a gun.

Members of the Decatur Police Special Operations Unit executed a narcotics search warrant at the home at 517 12th Avenue, according to a police report.

Arrested were Carlos McCaskey, Russell McDonald, Uralinda Smith, Latoya Reedus and Tara Gholston.

In addition to the drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home, officers found crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in McCaskey's possession, the report stated. McDonald, Smith, Reedus and Gholston also were carrying drug paraphernalia.

Charges include:

  • Carlos Dion McCaskey, 29, of 517 12th Ave., NW, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, three counts of failure to pay on previous charges and three counts of probation violation on previous convictions. He was taken to Morgan County Jail and held on $4,000 bond.
  • Tara Demetrice Gholston, 49, of 403 13th Ave. NW, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, loitering in a drug house and two counts of failure to pay on previous charges. She was taken to Morgan County Jail on $1,876.00 bond.
  • Uralinda Ann Smith, 42, of 324 Seventh Ave., NW; Latoya Fuqua Reedus, 38, of 506 12th Ave., NW; Russell Wayne McDonald, 57, of 18585 McDonald Lane were charged with one count each of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and loitering in a drug house. Each was held in Morgan County jail on $1,000 bond.
