5 men arrested on drug, gun charges at west Birmingham convenience store - al.com (blog)

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Five Birmingham men were arrested on drug and gun charges at a Birmingham convenience store this afternoon after citizens complained about drugs being sold there, according to Birmingham police.

"When citizens work with law enforcement and refuse to allow drug sales or other illegal activity to flourish in communities, they help to improve their quality of life dramatically," Police Chief A.C. Roper said in a news statement.

The arrests were made shortly before 1 p.m. at Hood Convenience Store at 225 Dugan Ave. after detectives watched people attempting to sell drugs there.

Arrested were:

  • Dominique Spears, 31, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and violation of state firearms act.
  • Jason Perkins, 27, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and loitering for drugs.
  • Jamal Sanders, 18, was charged with violation of state firearms act.
  • Tarrell Watson, 18, was charged with loitering for drugs.
  • Cadarius Williams, 22, was charged with disorderly conduct, loitering for drugs and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
