Police say I-80 and I-35 is a major corridor for drug and human trafficking. But last week law enforcement sent a strong message to area criminals.

An Iowa law enforcement task force executed a major bust last week arresting 53 people for drugs, human trafficking and prostitution.

The agency that led the crackdown is called the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force or MINE for short. It includes local police and sheriff departments as well as the FBI, Homeland Security and DCI.

The sting happened at one major location in the metro on October 17th and 18th. Authorities won't say where.

The goal was to free victims who were being trafficked for sex against their will. Law enforcement won't release the number of victims freed, but they do say the goal was achieved and there were no injuries.

"A lot of times you're going to find anytime with human trafficking or prostitution that drugs are involved and it's just a natural fit for those two investigations to go together," says Sgt. Rich Blayloch from the Polk County Sheriff's Department.

"If all the local law enforcement worked together on a project like this or any other type, we can get good results," says Blayloch.

The following is the list of individuals charged during the operation:
