First-year Fisher student arrested for drugs - Brighton-Pittsford Post

Abraham Reinhardt of Clarence, 23, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms and Oxymorphine.

Reinhardt, a first-year pharmacy student, at St. John Fisher College, was arrested in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Batavia. The Assistant U.S. Attorney who is handling the case says Reinhardt was about to sell 80 Opana (Oxymorphone) tablets, a quantity of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Students on the Fisher campus expressed surprise that anyone at the college would do this and that someone would risk their future for what one student called a "stupid thing."

St. John Fisher College issued a statement saying, "Yesterday, the College was notified of the arrest of Abraham Reinhardt, a first-year pharmacy student (P1). We have had numerous inquiries about Reinhardt's possible access to drugs on campus. We would like to emphasize that first-year students at the School of Pharmacy do not have access to any pharmacy labs or pharmaceuticals on campus. Students in their second, third, and fourth year in the School of Pharmacy do complete lab work, but they do not work with any controlled substances on campus. Lab classes are supervised by faculty from the School of Pharmacy and the labs are locked when not in use. The U.S. Attorney's Office is moving forward with the case. The College has no additional information at this time."

Reinhardt was released on $5,000 bond and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on December 4, 2012.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison, $1,000,000 fine or both.
