Former PSU president could face criminal charges - HLNtv.com

Former Penn State University president Graham Spanier may be charged in the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal Thursday.

HLN/In Session contributor Sarah Ganim reports that the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office will announce criminal charges against Spanier at a press conference Thursday afternoon.

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was sentenced October 9 to a minimum of 30 years in prison for his conviction on 45 counts of child sex abuse. The first chance he will get at parole will be when he is 98 years old. 

The convicted child molester was transferred to the prison where he will serve his sentence Wednesday. Sandusky is being held at the Greene prison facility in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania where he will be under close supervision for his safety.

"We make individual decisions based on facts.  Given the high profile nature of this individual, coupled with the nature of his crimes, this makes him very vulnerable in a prison setting," said Pennsylvania Corrections Secretary John Wetzel.  "As such, he will be placed in protective custody at SCI Greene to ensure his safety while in custody.".
