The leader of an elaborate drug operation is behind bars, according to Decatur Police.
Officials said John Buford Reynolds sold crack cocaine to Leon Goodwin who then sold drugs to undercover drug agents. Police said Goodwin was the leader of the operation.
Agents said they have been investigating the drug ring for years. They received multiple complaints from residents of drug activity at residences on Valley Park Drive and Old Trinity Road.
Officials obtained search warrants for both homes.
On October 18, agents searched both homes simultaneously. At the home on Old Trinity Road, agents located drug paraphernalia and prescription pills. They also arrested James Scarbrough and charged him with loitering in a drug house.
Due to the conditions of the home, the residence was condemned.
At the home on Valley Park Drive, agents located both Goodwin and Reynolds who were immediately arrested. Agents also seized crack cocaine, cash, drug paraphernalia, a gun, counter surveillance equipment and a large amount of stolen property.
Goodwin was charged with two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Reynolds was charged with three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers said the investigation is ongoing and they expect to make additional arrests.
