Adults arrested, children rescued in drug bust - Porterville Recorder

Four adults are behind bars and four children are out of harm's way after two separate drug raids just one block apart in Porterville Friday.

Under arrest in the first incident are David Lopez, 25, and Holly Moisa, 45, who stand accused of possessing a controlled substance for sale and child endangerment, according to the Porterville Police Department. Lopez faces an additional charge for violation of parole.

At about 9 a.m. Friday, PPD detectives served a search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of West Morton Avenue, where they say they discovered methamphetamine packaged for sale and drug sales paraphernalia. Also in the residence were two children, ages 8 and 10, and police say the drugs they discovered were in an area accessible to the children.

Lopez and Moisa were both arrested and booked at the Tulare County Jail.

Arrested in the second incident one block away in the 500 block of West Morton Avenue were Preston Lynn Brassfield, 29, and Yvette Cavasos, 30, the PPD said.

At about 4:30 p.m., PPD detectives entered the home and discovered the second pair of suspects destroying narcotics. Police determined the pair were under the influence of a controlled substance.

Also in the home were two children, ages 2 and 4.

Police found evidence of narcotic sales in the home, as well as evidence of drug use. Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Tulare County Jail for felony child endangerment, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Cavasos was also found to have an active arrest warrant.

The children were released to Child Welfare Services.
