High schooler arrested on drug charges - Aiken Standard

An Aiken teen was detained after he was found at school in possession of prescription pills which investigators said he planned to distribute, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Chad Kerby, 17, was charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics and placed in the Aiken County detention center under $10,000 bond. He remained in jail on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a report, an officer was dispatched to South Aiken High School last week after the assistant principal reported a student acting funny in class.

After checking who the student had hung out with that day, the assistant principal found Kerby and a juvenile in possession of several prescription pills, according to the report.

Kerby had five orange and white pills that he said a neighbor gave him to sell, according to the report. He wrote a statement for the principal.

The juvenile reportedly had three yellow pills that he said Kerby gave him and 26 white pills that he said he got from home. He also wrote a statement for the principal.

Kerby was transported to the detention center. The juvenile was transported to Public Safety headquarters where he was booked for possession with intent to distribute schedule I, II and III drugs. He was released to his parents.

According to the Aiken County jail, Kerby was arrested on Oct. 12 for shoplifting.
