Pancoran Mas precinct officers have arrested three members of a family for distributing illegal drugs in Depok, south of Jakarta.

The three suspects were identified as Mukasah, 57, his brother Sugiono, 51, and Sugiono's son Deni Aprianto, 27.

Detectives unit chief First Insp. Eko Supriyadi said officers caught Sugiono red-handed late on Monday afternoon when he was attempting to sell six packages of putau (low-grade heroine), each priced at Rp 10 million (US$1,040).

Sugiono was arrested near Mukasah's house on Jl. Ali, Abadi Jaya, Sukmajaya district.

"We made him confess and he took us to Mukasah's house where we arrested Mukasah and Deni while they were taking the drugs," Eko said at his office, adding that Mukasah had admitted to having consumed illegal drugs since 2005.

"We took them to headquarters while they were still high."

Police found 0.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine, four packages of putau, a bong and a syringe in
Mukasah's bedroom.

The value of all the drugs the police had confiscated comes to equaled to tens of millions of rupiah.

Eko said police were continuing their investigation into the case to unearth a distribution syndicate.

The suspects are charged under the 2009 Law on narcotics and face a minimum of five years in prison for violating articles 112 on drug possession and 114 on drug dealing.

In November, Depok Police arrested 14 suspects allegedly linked to a drug ring and confiscated 14 kilograms of marijuana, 140 grams of crystal meth, eight bongs, scales and 12 cellular phones.

The Depok Police claimed that the distribution network had at least 700 loyal customers.
