Support unit officers raided 12 addresses shortly after 8am yesterday. Ten men and one woman were arrested and are being questioned on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class a drugs.
The operation – codenamed regenerate - involved more than 100 officers from across Lancashire. Ten warrants were executed in Nelson on St Pauls Road, Larch Street, Burns Street, Gordon Road, Victoria Street, Beaufort Street, Railway Street, Every Street and Chapelhouse Road. An address on Townley Street in Briercliffe was also raided along with an address on Victoria Avenue in Brierfield.
Operations manager Superintendent Damian Darcy, from Pennine Division police, said: "We have taken action to disrupt the activities of those we suspect of being involved in organised crime.
"We have carried out a number of raids and we hope this shows residents that we are taking action to deal with the problems that are affecting their neighbourhoods.
"Drugs can blight our communities. People have told us that drug dealing, crime and antisocial behaviour are issues affecting their community. Not only do they bring obvious dangers to a person's health, but they also lead to further anti-social behaviour and crime such as burglary, robbery and car crime, which are often committed to fund a drug habit.
"Information is the key – and we want people to come forward with their concerns and reports of suspicious behaviour so that we can clamp down on people believed to be involved in drug dealing. If you know something, please speak to us so that we can take action."
